Setting and reviewing standards

Environmental standards reform

Statutory policies are subordinate legislation made under the Environment Protection Act 1970. These policies must be reviewed every ten years.

The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) and EPA Victoria have launched a program of statutory policy reviews, which will be rolled out over the coming years. These reviews will implement the recommendations of the Statutory Policy Review by delivering modern, streamlined and accessible environmental standards that reflect the best available science, knowledge and evidence. Every review will provide consultation opportunities for stakeholders and the Victorian community to help shape revised policies.

Information on individual statutory policy reviews will be made available through the links on this web page.
