EPA Victoria’s greenhouse gas inventory

EPA aims to achieve carbon neutrality, and we have a step-by-step continuous improvement framework to manage our own greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, known as EPA’s Carbon Management Principles.

We have taken the following steps to manage our carbon footprint and demonstrate best-practice carbon neutrality:

  • We measure and record our GHG emissions in our GHG inventory using the World Resources Institute/World Business Council for Sustainable Development Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard (Corporate Standard).
  • We get our GHG emissions and GHG inventory management plan independently verified.
  • We publish our GHG emissions, and our GHG inventory management plan (these webpages)
  • We identify and assess our emissions reductions options using the Carbon Management Principles.
  • We assess the reduction and offset options from a financial and environmental perspective.

We go through these steps on an annual basis to develop our GHG inventory. The process involves:
